Class 3 Galvanized Wire

Class 3 coating is 0.80 oz/sq.ft. minimum or 244 g/sq. m.minimum.

Class 1 coating is 0.28 oz/sq.ft. minimum or 85 g/ sq.m. minimum.

Class 3 has approximately 2.5 to 3 times the coating weight and will last about that frequency longer than Class 1.

Class 1 wire typically lasts 20 to 30 years in Australia depending on climate and location.

Industrial locations are worst, followed by marine (salt water), temperate and desert being best unless the wire is sand blasted by heavy winds.

Class 3 wire typically lasts 2 to 3 times longer under similar conditions.

Class 3 costs a little more - approximately 6.5% more - but is a bargain when the life of the wire is considered.
