DIAMOND MESH HORSE FENCING - CONSTRUCTION

Fence construction is easy and fast. We use six-inch diameter treated
pine fencing posts – 8 feet long, driven into the ground every 2.5 meters, with larger 8-inch diameter corner posts.

Fencing posts should be approximately 152cm or 5' out of the ground if a top rail is to be used and certainly no less than 138cm or 4' 6" if a sighter wire is used.
While posts can always be topped off later – you cannot make them any taller.

DIAMOND MESH is 50 inches (1.27 meters) high and is constructed from the ground
to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) under the top rail.

DIAMOND MESH Horse Fencing is not attached to the top rail.

DIAMOND MESH is stretched from post to post holding the wire tight with staples;
no other wires are required in the instillation.

STEP 1

Place a heavy object on the end of DIAMOND MESH and roll out, keeping as
close as possible to the base of the fence posts. All DIAMOND MESH Horse Fencing and rails
should be on the inside of the paddock, posts on the outside.

STEP 2

Staple wire to fence post, making sure staples overlock wire joins, and the same row of
diamonds are used from top to bottom, this ensures the wire is square on
the fencing post.

STEP 3

Attach straining system to far end of DIAMOND MESH. Quickgrip strainer with
either a tractor, or 4WD as a preferred option. If access is an issue a block and tackle will work.

STEP 4

Strain wire as tight as possible. It is handy at this stage to have a person midway
along the length being strained to support the DIAMOND MESH Horse Fencing, ensuring the
base of the wire stays against the fence posts.

STEP 5

Staple the far end using the same principal as Step 2.

STEP 6

Staple wire to all other fencing posts.
Handy tip... always strain DIAMOND MESH from outside of the paddock, wherever possible.

STEP 7

FINISHING OF THE ENDS

Cut the DIAMOND MESH leaving approximately 8 inches (20 cm) after the staples on the fence post.
Strip the DIAMOND MESH wire leaving the horizontal double cabled wires, always leaving at least one diamond after the fence staples.
Wrap horizontal wires around the fence post (outside of paddock) pulling tight with
pelican pliers for leverage.
Staple down wire to back of fence post.

STEP 8

RUNNING THE NEXT SECTION OF DIAMOND MESH

This is the same procedure as the first run of DIAMOND MESH Horse Fencing with the exception of
how to start.
First strip approximately 8 inches (20cms) of DIAMOND MESH from the double cabled horizontal wires (as in step 7, Diagram B). This is best done before stapling
to the fence post.
Slip the horizontal double cabled stripped wires through the DIAMOND MESH of
the first run of DIAMOND MESH. Then follow Steps 1 through to 7 again.

STEP 9

CORNER FENCE POSTS

Corner Fence posts are constructed exactly the same as above. The stripped horizontal
wires going in the new direction come through the first wires to the back of the
corner fence post.
All ends must finish on the back of the posts on the outside of the horse paddock.
